Faith, Love and Hope

For Laurel’s Health

Team FLH was at it again for their 11th year riding in the Utah MS 150.

I am so proud to support one of my dearest and oldest (and I mean that in the nicest way!) friends Andrea Townsend.  We’ve known each other for almost 40 years and she is one of the most inspiring women I know and whose life exemplifies

Living for God, in Gratitude and by Giving Back.

This year, in addition to raising over $6K personally to help MS research, she raised awareness of how closely this hits all of our lives.  Rather than just asking for donations, she asked for names, the names of our loved ones that are fighting or have fought this disease.  Included in her list of those she was riding for is my son-in-law Hector’s older sister Dana, was diagnosed and has been battling MS since 2004

In Andrea’s words:
I rode with the names of 17+ heroes on my jersey. They were the wind at my back--your loved ones and mine whose lives have been drastically altered by MS. Two of them are dear ones who have lost their long battles with this mean disease, one a 37-year-old former student of mine who died in February, the other the grandfather of a sweet friend getting married this weekend, without her Grandpa whom she never got to know.”

If you live in Texas you can start training now and participate next year. Save the date for 2016: April 16-17, 2016!! The BP MS 150 is a two-day fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society. The two-day ride is a 180-mile journey that starts in Houston and ends in Austin.
